But my aim is improving.

I missed you! My laptop was busted but then Dell sent me a blue fairy so now I'm a real boy. I'm reading Pinocchio, in case you couldn't tell.

Speaking of completely obvious, I live in the best place in the world. On Sunday I was called boring. That made me laugh to no end because of how much I'm enjoying myself these days. I love looking back on a month and realizing that I've done an amazing job existing. I decided to end my completely successful month with a cultural diversity weekend!

Thursday was the opening of Gary Baseman's exhibit at Skirball. If you're not familiar with his work, you should look into it. I'm always so impressed by people who do whatever they want, no matter how unorthodox (pa-dum-ch?), and somehow manage to be successful. He's one of those people whose brains I just want to dissect in order to make sense of the nonsensical. I know I'd just come out more confused but also utterly entertained and overstimulated. The funny thing is that a large part of his show is meant to provide insight into how growing up in LA influenced his work. MY FAVORITE pieces were the piƱata paintings because, let's be honest, you make me want to hit you with a stick. Watch him do his thang.

My cultural enrichment continued on Saturday when we saw La Dolce Vita at the Los Angeles Theatre. Reason #1322342 why I love this city: Cinespia. So glad that they put on events where I can dress up and enjoy watching beautiful movies in beautiful settings. I love all things Los Angeles, all things Italian, and I've recently been on this kick about watching every "you haven't seen it!?!?" inducing movie, so this event was tailor made for me. I gotta say, I don't have the best opinion of downtown but I love that places like that still exist there. It's not just a shit storm of traffic and expensive parking lots and one way streets. I can't wait for the Hollywood Forever screenings to begin. I, obviously, already have an outfit picked out for Clueless.

And finally, just because Sunday was too nice of a day to waste, we wandered around Chinatown and got some grub. In spite of the speculations that our day would be no fun, I really appreciate having people in my life that will spontaneously do some exploring with me so I enjoyed it quite a bit.

I know that not everyone will like to do the things that I like to do, but I like doing EVERYTHING. Guess variety isn't everyone's cup o' tea.

Tomorrow, we're going out for Polish food! Yay ethnicities!

LA crowds are the worst!

Pretty birds.

If you know me at all you know that I'm obsessed with Gilmore Girls. I stumbled upon these beauties and they made me unbelievably happy since Lorelai said that there should be a thousand yellow daisies in a proposal. Will you marry me?

A couple of weeks ago I suggested to Hanna that we have a nice wholesome weekend and we ended up having a five a.m. giggle fest at LACMA's Urban Light. This weekend we finally reached our breaking point and did none of our usual damage. But we wouldn't be us if we didn't partake in some sort of tomfoolery.

Friday night thoroughly highlighted how abnormal I am. Unlike most people my age, I'm perfectly satisfied going out without getting trashed and just sitting at the bar enjoying the music. I didn't even mind all the nut jobs that made the mistake of deciding that I look approachable. Two weeks ago, I was in one of  my surreal scenarios, when Pulp's Common People came on and was almost immediately changed to something less exciting. After two attempts at hearing it in its entirety and being shot down in the midst of a dance session for one, I had to let it go. But this weekend, while ignoring a particularly hostile drunkard, the DJ at Townhouse played it and made me that happiest girl. And I didn't even fall off of my bar stool once! This, plus the delicious old fashioned and the good company is what I'd like every bar experience to be like from now on.

Since Friday night was so tame, Saturday didn't require much in the way of recuperating which allowed for a photo adventure! I can't keep a straight face for the life of me but these all came out so great. Here are only a few of those that Hanna didn't already post plus a few from downtown last week.

My life is so hard.

The last couple of months have led me to believe that I'm really good at living. There has been such an influx of new interesting people but I've also gotten closer to others that I've known for years. It just makes me realize how much I don't need to clutter my life with substandard people.

So here's what I need:

Hanna Renae Scott!!
Holy fuck, what did I do before this girl came into my life? All of the crazy things I've ever wanted to do are finally being done because now there's a Hanna. But it's not just an appreciation for a partner in crime. My mind is a scary minefield that most people can't navigate, but Hanna has an amazing ability to understand all of the terrible things that occur to me and half the time she's even thinking about them as well. She's made me such a fan off shooting knowing glances. How we can be so different and so similar at the same time is beyond me but I appreciate it immensely.

L.A.
I need me some Los Angeles. As a native, I might be biased but I adore this city. On top of the fact that I can stay out all night, I can also get up and recuperate at the beach ("The cure for anything is saltwater"). I just can't deal with monotony and in L.A. I never have to. I love that I always have the option of going from fancy to underground wrestling in twenty minutes time.
Why yes, that is my City of L.A. tattoo.
BOOKS

Let's just get this out now: I'm a big fat nerd (as evidenced by my tumblr). I'll always appreciate book suggestions. Gimme.
And in return I must suggest that you read The Crying of Lot 49 (Pynchon). It's weird as fuck but I want you to read it. Think 60's California film noir pseudo detective novel with a post office spin. It's a pretty short read and incredibly absorbing. One of the few things I've actually enjoyed reading in a while since I only have time for required reading these days. Let me know what you think and we can go out and get muted post horn tattoos together.
